Summary

Chapter 5

In Chapter 5, Maise and Evan drive to St. Louis to talk to the friend. They have arranged the meeting in a club that Maise is too young to enter so she is left alone for a couple hours. As Maise thinks about her place in the world, she realizes what her senior project will be about. When she meets Evan again, he tells her the friend agreed. They are to pay him two hundred dollars a month for the right to use the loft on weekends. Evan lets Maise drive home. They get there late and Evan gives her directions to his apartment. After sex Evan asks her to stay with him but she goes home.
