Summary
Still in Boston with Zeke, Willa struggles to focus on her writing while also focusing on taking care of her new grandchild. She currently works as a freelance article author, and while “The article she was trying to write on health insurance exchanges was interesting in principle…her concentration was kaput, constricted to death between a screaming baby downstairs and the steady pounding overhead” (73). She spent only two weeks in Boston, but she cannot believe how hectic her home life in Vineland became during that time. Willa is growing discouraged in all aspects of her life, also giving up hope on finding some sort of government grant to aid in the restoration of their home.
