Summary

In Chapter 52, Emma was called to the police station where she met her mother and brother and received the news that Clive was missing. A search party was immediately formed for fear he would “freeze to death” (279). Mack and Emma searched an area of Corbin Park near Mavis’s house when they heard Moses’s howl. She knew “the dog would be with her father” (283).

In Chapter 53, Emma found Clive stuck unconscious and stuck in a hole. Rasputin was frantically trying to save him. With Auggie’s help, she got Clive out of the hole and performed CPR until he began to breathe again. The paramedics feared that “he was most likely brain dead” (288).
