Summary

In Chapter 10, Emma needed went to the Wilderness’s Edge Express coffee shop on the edge of Corbin Park. Her father had just been there arguing with his friends from the band, and had left a mess behind. She met her high school crush, Mack Durkee, in the shop and flirted with him until she saw her father half naked in the street. “Together, Mack and Emma shepherded Clive Starling into the front seat of the car” (74).

In Chapter 11, Emma found her dad’s detective work on Crystal Nash in his office and remembered the “elaborate bedtime stories” he used to tell (79).
