Chapter 9 Summary
Wren finally awakens, and Maggie is not sure what to do. She talks to the big cat in a child-like voice. She tells it not to hurt the nice lady. When she gets closer to him, she asks if Wren is inside the large tiger somewhere. Wren uses all of his strength to turn human again, and this relieves Maggie to know it is truly Wren. She tells him he's been unconscious for four days. He is terrified at first, but when Maggie tells him she never left his side, locked the doors and windows and kept things low key, he is overwhelmed with love. No one has ever protected him like that before.
He tells Maggie that they must leave immediately. She is angered and tells him she will protect them with her rifle. Wren laughs at her and tells her that...
