Summary
In Chapter 10, Peralta begins with a description of how the reluctant Yando was persuaded to apply for, and start attending, Prep. He then describes how, one day when he and Yando were coming home, they were surprised to see their father waiting for them outside their apartment. He had come from the Dominican Republic on business, and wanted to surprise them. Peralta then describes the week he and the rest of the family had with their visitor – how Dad slept on the couch, how Mom had told him about Carlos who was away on business, and how he bonded with Peralta in a way that Peralta had not realized he craved. At the end of the week, Peralta says, his father went back to the Dominican Republic, proud of his son but unaware, Peralta adds, of all his concerns about immigration...
