Wallace
Wallace is a representation of how selfishness and greed can destroy a person's legacy. At the beginning of the novel, Wallace has no idea how his actions affect other people. He is entirely focused on himself and his goals, but even those become meaningless at the end of the day. After his death, Wallace realizes that he has not left behind anything for the world. He has no family that cares. No friends that mourn. His business is left in the hands of his partners. Those that were once close to him only see his death as a relief. Wallace realizes too late that his skewed worldview left him as a hollow man, and only by adjusting his worldview and looking to improve the lives of others is he able to find peace and love within himself.
