Summary
In Chapter 22, Ijeoma and Amina talk about their lives and their pasts. Amina says that she looks forward to going to school when the war ends. Amina comments that just before the war erupted, her parents had made arrangements to have her married off, despite the fact that she is barely 13 years old. The war interrupted the marriage plans. In Chapter 23, it is January 1970, and the war is almost over. Ijeoma and Amina have grown close as friends. The war ends in mid-January. In Chapter 24, Ijeoma and Amina eventually form a sexual relationship with each other. In Chapter 25, one day, Amina says to Ijeoma that she thinks it would be nice if they were married to each other. Ijeoma agrees and says that it is unfortunate that same-sex marriage is not allowed.
