Summary

In Chapter 11, when Isserley woke she was laying on the deck of the transport ship. Amlis was sitting next to her. He said he had persuaded the men that fresh air would be good for her. He told her he had been watching the sky and had been unprepared for its beauty. Isserley understood his enthusiasm and snorted with pain and laughter when she finally managed to lift her arms enough to clasp them on her belly. Amlis moved closer to her and she asked what he was eating. She was angered when he said he was not eating anything. He clarified and said he was chewing icpathua. Isserley began laughing when Amlis talked about swallowing a bale of the stuff in order for it to kill him. Her laughter stopped when he told her that Icpathua was a good painkiller.
