Structure
The book is divided into 15 chapters. It also has an Introduction section, as well as multiple supplemental sections following Chapter 15. Each chapter focuses on a distinct topic, but each topic is relevant to the book’s overall exposition on issues of racial injustice. The book is structured to be accessible and pedagogical. Acho includes elements of his own experiences, but he mostly focuses historical and statistical facts to substantiate his points. He discusses history, present-day dynamics, and the connections between the two. He also offers advice on how to continue one’s education, and how to contribute to anti-racist progress.
