Point of View

This novel is told from third person, omniscient point of view. Each chapter features the critical viewpoint of a character, even secondary characters at some points. From this, the reader is able to fully view the unfolding events from angles and perspectives that each character, by themselves, would not be able to, and this allows the reader's feeling of suspense to be heightened. Knowing what the characters do not know offers insight into the characters, particularly Shay, the protagonist, because the reader can fully experience the adventure with her, but at the same time be worried for her and her fate.

Language and Meaning

The language used is modern and utilizes slang and hacker terms throughout the novel. Context clues are provided so that even if the reader does not have a background in technology or street terms, their meanings are evident enough.
