Point of View
This novel is told from the point of view of several different first-person narrators. Miles and Tate narrate the majority of the story, but Rachel does narrate one chapter where Miles comes to her for advice about moving forward with his life. In Tate’s sections of narration, she narrates from the present, where she meets Miles. Consider: “When Corbin said I could stay with him until I found a job, I had no idea he lived like an actual adult” (3). Tate refers to herself as “I” (3) indicating that she is narrating her own experiences. Likewise, Miles narrates from the first-person point of view, though his narration is set six years in the past: “I open the door to the administration office and walk the roll sheet to the secretary’s desk” (17).
