Summary
In Chapter 31, narrated by Tate in the present, Miles comes to Tate’s apartment and kisses her before he has even taken his luggage to his apartment. Tate teases that Miles missed her, but his body tenses against hers. Tate tells Miles that missing her does not break the rules. Tate feels it is a reality check when she realizes that Miles cannot even admit that he misses her.
In Miles’s apartment, Tate assures Miles that telling her he misses her does not mean they are committed. Miles replies that he cannot tell her he missed her because it would give her false hope.
