Honesty

Honesty is the main theme of this story. The message that the author wants to impart is that lies and pretence will only lead to greater problems in the end. Jordan has been keeping a very big secret from Courtney - one that caused their break up. He found out that his mother is having an affair with Courtney's dad. At first, he is too shocked to say anything, but then he began to worry about how to deal with the situation. He decides that it would be too much trouble to tell Courtney the truth, and that it is better to wait to see if their relationship lasted.
