Summary
The next morning, Bosch is eating breakfast as he considers the details of the Preston Borders case. Mickey Haller calls Bosch to tell him that Preston Borders' lawyer in the original case, David Siegel, was actually alive and well, despite conflicting reports that he was dead. Bosch then goes in to the San Fernando station to discover that Jerry Edgar's contact with the DEA, Charlie Hovan, is already there. Hovan proposes that Bosch, who can best pull off the look of an older, haggard drug addict, infiltrate the "pill mill" operation by going undercover. While the other officers hesitate, Bosch is quickly sold on the idea. Bosch arranges the rest of the day to be able to work on the Borders case before he goes undercover.
