Chapter 10 Summary
When Stephanie enters the bond office, Lula and Connie are arguing about who has the best pizza in town. They seek Stephanie as a tiebreaker, but she disagrees with them both. Stephanie looks up Louie and Spiro's addresses. Lula offers to ride along as her assistant, and Stephanie accepts. Lula admires the Buick; she says it resembles that of a pimp she once knew.
The first stop is Louie Moon's house, which appears quiet and modest, with holiday decorations that are up all year. They move on to Spiro's apartment. The women cannot gain any information from peering in the windows. Despite admonishments from Stephanie, Lula breaks the window and climbs in. She reasons that once she is in, Stephanie might as well have a look around. The rationale works for Stephanie, and she begins snooping.
