Bella asks Edward how he reads minds. He says he needs to be close enough to "hear" people think. He does not know why he cannot hear Bella think. Edward is driving very fast, over a hundred miles an hour, but he is a safe driver.Bella finally reveals that she thinks he and his family are vampires, but that it does not matter to her. He can hardly believe that, but she says it is true and that she is just curious about it all. He tells her the truth about vampires, that they do not sleep in coffins nor are burned by sun.
