Chapters 17-18 Summary

The next morning Ranger calls Stephanie and tells her Scrog called and left a message on her answering machine. Ranger wants her to come back to the apartment to change the incoming message in case Scrog calls again. Stephanie goes to the office first where a delivery of flowers arrive. They are from Scrog. When Stephanie returns home, Ranger is reviewing the security camera footage from the funeral parlor. Ranger finds a good shot of Scrog's back, which does not look much like Ranger, but there are no shots of his face. Then Stephanie listens to Scrog's message. Scrog speaks like he is Ranger and promises to come for Stephanie very soon.

Stephanie goes back to the office. A few minutes later Joyce appears. Joyce is angry about the lack of profitable jobs Connie has been giving her. Connie gives Joyce...
