Summary

In Chapter 1, “Battle Theme Music,” Jack has always been expected to be a football star because his father, Sam Orsino, was one in his youth. Sam coaches Jack’s team. Jack understands that his view of the game is different from other people's. His view is more like that of a chess prodigy. He has been recruited by Illyria for college football. It is Jack’s senior year, and he believes fate is on his side as everyone believes the team will win State. When Jack scores in the game against Padua, everyone starts chanting Duke Orsino. His father was known as King Orsino. Jack lacks humility but is liked by most people. Despite his success, however, he still has not achieved what his father and brother did in football.

The narrative switches to Vi who is playing the role playing game...
