Summary
Aza wakes up in the hospital and tries to determine if the worst of her anxiety spiral is over. She tells her mother she is in “Big trouble” (231).
In Chapter 21, Aza imagines solving the mystery of Russell Pickett's disappearance. Dr. Singh visits and tells her they will try a new medication for managing her anxiety. After two weeks of recovering, Aza returns to school. She sees Daisy and comments on her new hairstyle. Daisy says she has broken up with Mychal. They talk about Russell Pickett, and about Aza's anxiety. Daisy tells Aza a story about a woman who insisted that the earth was a flat plain, resting on the back of a giant turtle, and that turtle was on the back of another turtle, who was on the back of another turtle, “turtles all the way down” (245).
