Caitlin Paine
Caitlin Paine is the eighteen year-old principle protagonist and main character of the novel “Turned” by Morgan Rice. When the book begins, Caitlin has moved to New York with her abusive mother, and her caring brother, Sam. She begins class at a new high school, and feels very out of place, though she does not know exactly why. She meets and befriends Jonah, a thin and talented senior, and she quickly develops romantic feelings for him. She comes to defend him against four bullies much bigger than she is, and ends up beating them all up with strength she does not know she has. She begins having severe hunger pains that cannot be sated with normal food or drink, and she begins dreaming about drinking blood. While on a date with Jonah at Carnegie Hall, Caitlin ends up attacking and feeding on the star of the performance...
