Part Two: Chapters 27 - 35 Summary
LaVaughn remains horrified by the kiss and the way Jody laughed afterward. She has always imagined marrying Jody and having a houseful of children, but how is that going to be accomplished if Jody can't even kiss her? LaVaughn mourns this loss for days, unable to talk to anyone about her problems. She can't tell Myrtle and Annie - they're too distant and they never liked Jody anyway - she can't tell her mother; she wouldn't possibly understand. She can't tell Jolly; she has her own problems, and she certainly can't tell Jody, which leaves her with no one. Meanwhile, LaVaughn's mother seems very distracted lately.
