Summary

The next chapter is titled “Mother and Child.” Ziggy and June meet every day at the beech tree. Then, they travel "to the ninth dimension together, where we shape-shifted and became vast, flinging out powers and our voices into the universe” (126). One day, Jenny's car is in the drive and Ziggy is not in the tree. June watches as Jenny leaves the house, carrying a laundry basket. Ziggy tries to hold onto her and makes her trip. He pleads to go home with her but she adamantly refuses, saying she and her boyfriend, Donny, are trying to work things out.
