Summary
A giant iron monster enters the room. Tristan and Thandiwe, who are still up in the air, land next to Ayanna to regroup. Ayanna suggest they slip out through the tram tunnel, but Tristan says they can't leave until reinforcements come. Chestnutt hops over with a piece of paper from Anansi's notes. She knows what the monsters is. It's a hullbeast. It is "bound by rotten malevolence" (363), hence the rotten smell and caries disease via the brand flies. The iron monster bellow and something flies out. A buzzing sound fills the room. It's a scout fly! Ayanna warns them to duck down--when the scout fly locks onto you, it will send a whole bunch of brand flies to you. Tristan is not pleased at the sight of these "prehistoric large poison bugs" (364). The giant iron monster opens its mouth again and bellows, releasing...
