Summary
John Henry takes Tristan to the Warren, a place of many tunnels that Brer uses to send messages all over MidPass, as well as to the mainland. His friends gather information from him and bring it back to the Thicket. Tristan thinks that sounds an awful lot like spying. Brer snaps back that collecting information is hardly spying. John Henry breaks up their dispute. Tristan can't help it--god or not, he finds Brer incredibly annoying. Miss Sarah, Miss Rose, and Ayanna join them. Tristan still has hopes of just going home, but Brer won't have any more of that. Together they all try to come up with a plan. Brer points out that there seems to be some connection between the "abnormality in the sky" (151) and the iron monsters and bone ships. He thinks that perhaps if they can push Tristan back through...
