Summary
Tristan wakes up, drenched in sweat. In his ears he hears a voice: Uncle C. He thanks him for Eddie's journal. Tristan finds himself in a small room with thorny branches climbing up the walls and ceiling. He cannot believe he lost Eddie's journal to the iron monsters. He wonders if Uncle C is the Maafa, or connected to them in some way. A small rabbit hops onto his bed. Her name is Chestnutt. She is here to fetch Tristan and bring him to a meeting of some sort. He learns he has been sleeping for a day. Tristan remembers with sadness how Brer Fox fought off the iron monsters so the rest of their group could escape. Chestnutt explains that Brer Fox is a pacifist, and doesn't believe in violence, which Tristan is surprised to learn, and makes him feel even worse...
