Ginger Summary
Ginger hates school, and doesn't do very well. She doesn't have big dreams. She wants to have a few friends, work as a waitress, and settle into a nice, small town. Ginger is friends with a Goth girl named Alex, whose father is a bartender and a drug-addict. Alex's mom is in jail for robbery.
Ginger hears sirens and runs home to discover her little brother Sandy is lying in the street, the victim of a hit-and-run. He is breathing, but in serious condition, and is taken to the hospital. Ginger has to track down her mother to approve treatment, but her mother does not respond. She instead calls her grandmother, who is at a hair appointment. Her grandmother immediately sets out for the hospital.
