Chapters 1-4 Summary

Chapter 1:

Rayford Steele is a pilot for Pan-Continental Airlines currently on an overnight flight to Heathrow Airport in London. Steele has a few things on his mind, including the family's plans for spring break, during which Steele, his wife, Irene, and their two children will spend time together.

The other thing on Steele's mind is the fact that he is becoming obsessed with Hattie Durham, a senior flight attendant. Hattie is beautiful, young, and perhaps most of all, is not obsessed with religion like Irene. No one could fault Steele for his attraction to Hattie. The pair have spent time together on a professional basis and Steele admires Hattie in many ways. Plus, she is a toucher. Steele likes that. It is never anything inappropriate, just a hand on the shoulder or a touch on the arm but still, Steele feels...
