Summary

The narrator says she has always been hungry but "not for food" (73). She started stealing from downtown shop to fill this hunger, both food and non-food things that she both needed and didn't need. She stole plates ashtrays and wineglasses from a Hilton Hotel convention the day she was not able to register for classes because her scholarship check was late. She threw those ashtrays off a pier on St. Pete Beach like they were Frisbees.
