Summary

In “Chapter 1” the unnamed narrator comes to Lukachukai Chapter House after being summoned. A mother has brought her here to try and find her daughter who has been taken by a monster. The narrator argues with the girl’s uncle and brother, after they try to pay her less than she is worth. She tells them she has clan powers and studied under Neizgháni, an immortal monster hunter. The mother agrees to pay more if she looks for her girl.

In “Chapter 2” the narrator goes into the woods to hunt the monster and find the girl. She sees him gnawing on the girl’s neck and shoots him. Injured but alive, he picks up the girl and starts running away. The narrator chases after him and uses her clan powers, Honágháahnii, to catch up to him. They struggle but she...
