Chapter 2 Summary and Analysis
Robyn spends the next year working almost constantly. She continues to work at the pub, where she comes face-to-face with rampant sexism, racism, and alcoholism as a way of life. Kurt comes back and begs her to work for him again and she agrees to try it out. This time she is allowed to live in Kurt's house with him and his wife Gladdy, and Robyn learns a lot about camels. In fact, she becomes completely obsessed with them. Kurt comes up with a verbal agreement, in which Robyn will work for him for free, and he will let her use three of his camels for her trip, as long as she returns them.
