Summary
In Chapter 16, Tess sits at her desk to write Aaron’s mom a letter, explaining how the island gets lots of tourists never before seen in the summers. Tess urges Aaron’s mom to come to the show, includes a map, ferry schedule, and a suggestion that she disguise herself. Tess reflects on the old saying that writing a wish beneath a stamp on a letter will carry the wish with it, making it come true. Tess writes “please come” beneath the stamp.
In Chapter 17, Tess worries about whether or not Aaron’s mom will come, while Aaron himself has no doubt she will. Aaron agrees to join in a game of Monopoly with Tess and Libby.
