Chapters 52-53 Summary
Sidney cannot understand why her parents have not arrived and why the disk has not been delivered by Fed Ex, as she had instructed Fisher; she is not aware that he has used "snail" mail instead. When she calls Fisher's home, the police answer, and she is consumed with grief and guilt, believing him to now be dead. She retreats into the beach house, collapsing into a corner with a shotgun in her lap. She has come a long way from her former Virginia life. Back in Virginia, Frank Hardy has invited Sawyer to a news conference, announcing the Triton-CyberCom deal. At the conference, Sawyer's suspicion that Gamble and Rowe dislike one another is confirmed, as they avoid even cursory contact.
