Chapters 13-18 Summary
Typical of the author's style, the next 6 chapters move the reader from scene to scene and from character to character. Chapter 13 describes the small room in which Jason is being held, the location of which is a complete mystery, given that he was blindfolded during the car trip. Smashing his glasses, he is able to attack his guard, grab his laptop and cell phone, and send a message, before being re-apprehended, beaten and thrown back into the limo by Scales, who now threatens death if Jason does not cooperate. They have another task for him. Meanwhile, FBI Agent Jackson searches Lieberman's home, which is a tiny hovel and demonstrates an amazingly austere lifestyle for such a prominent figure. A forensics team is due to arrive shortly.
Chapter 14 finds Sidney grieving in solitude. She moves into Jason's office and checks the computer...
