Chapters 8-12 Summary

The next five chapters move the reader back and forth among three places. In Chapter 8, Jason is met in Seattle by an Anthony DePazza and is driven to a warehouse. Increasingly nervous about this entire scenario, Jason is glad that he copied the contents of the files he is about to hand over onto a separate disk which he has mailed to himself. In the warehouse he turns over the documents to a small older gentleman, flanked by two large men with sunglasses. He hands Jason an electronically locked case, supposedly filled with money, and sends him away with DePazza. Jason's pager has news of the crash, and he decides to call Sidney. At this point, DePazza pulls off the road, tears off his disguise, and reveals his true identity - Kenneth Scales, a sociopathic killer for hire. Holding a gun...
