Summary

In Chapter 9, Bug spends the day outside, trying to avoid her uncle’s ghost. About 4 that afternoon Bug hears her uncle calling her even though she is outside. The voice is louder and louder, seeming to come from inside her head, but she is not able to understand what he is trying to tell her. She has the sense he sounds angry because he is trying to protect her from something.

That night, Bug is at home alone while her mother attends a work meeting with Ellen, Moira’s mother. As Bug is settling down to watch television, the doors inside the house begin to bang open and shut. The television in her mother’s room turns on and then the radio in the kitchen starts playing. The television turns up full volume.
