Summary
In Chapter 5, Lara and the girls “pick the fruit” to send “to the processor” as their crew cannot work for them (58). While Emily’s future with the farm “has been decided,” Maisie and Nell are still searching for opportunities (58). While working, the girls ask how Lara got from Los Angeles to Tom Lake.
Three years into shooting, “the movie still wasn’t finished” (59). Lara considered taking acting classes, but Ripley did not want her to ruin her natural talent. Instead, he suggested she audition for Our Town in New York. The girls realize the way “Every thing leads to the next thing” (61). Lara assures them the story will soon make sense.
