Chapters 11-14 Summary

In chapter 11, Dude and Sister Bessie return to the Lester farm. Everyone is impressed with the new car. Sister Bessie goes into the house and waits for Dude to join her. Jeeter has to tell Dude what to do. When Dude joins Sister Bessie in the house, she marries them in a private ceremony with only the two of them. Then Sister Bessie takes Dude to bed. They are watched by Ada and Ellie May in the doorway and Jeeter at the window. In chapter 12, Jeeter goes into the room and interrupts Sister Bessie and Dude. Jeeter tells Bessie that he has decided to castrate himself in order to please God. However, he feels that he should put it off for a little while.
