Summary

“Seeing Ershadi” is narrated by a woman who works as a professional dancer. She works in the dance company of a choreographer whose work she has admired for years. She lives in Tel Aviv, Israel, where the company is based. The company is the main focus of her life. One day, she develops tendinitis in her ankle, so she must spend much of her free time lying down and icing her ankle. She spends that time watching movies in her apartment, and she becomes infatuated with Iranian film actor Homayoun Ershadi. Ershadi was originally an architect with no acting training, but he has a natural personal magnetism. The narrator goes with the dance company on a performance trip to Tokyo, Japan, although the narrator has begun to become disillusioned with the company.
