Lara Jean Covey
Lara Jean Covey is the central character / protagonist. The novel is a coming of age story in which Lara Jean must mature as an individual and become less dependent on her family for support, specifically her older sister Margot who leaves home to go to college at the start of the novel.
Lara Jean prefers to live in her imagination and finds the idea of doing things in the real world to be intimidating: this is symbolized by the letters that she has written to all of the boys she has loved during her life.
