Chapter 36 Summary

George Smiley arrived at the safe house. She showed him around the house where all the mikes and spying equipment are. Guilliam arrives and does something tothe wiring.

Tarr received a return message from Alleline and told Ben to decipher it. The message says that Alleline needs samples of the product and that Tarr should talk to Steve Mackelvore.

Smiley is nervous and has his gun in his hand and wonders if Gerald has an emergency procedure that they don't know about. Mendel calls; someone has departed from the Circus, but he can't tell who. Smiley signals Guilliam that the mole is on the way. A man enters the house and then Polyakov arrives. Smiley recognizes the voice of Bill Haydon reading the telegram that Smiley had drafted for Tarr to send from Paris. Guilliam and Mendel enter the house and confront Haydon...
