Chapter 5 Summary
Tarr tells the story of an incident at the Brixton school several months earlier in April. A Soviet trade delegate (code name Boris) was a target for the scalp-hunters and Guilliam sent Tarr to Hong Kong to check out the situation. Tarr fills them in on the activities of Boris as Tarr listened to Boris' conversation at a bar with a Swede and a Chinese woman. Tarr says there were several things about Boris that suggested he was not really a trade delegate and thinks he's a professional. When Tarr searches Boris's room, he finds Boris's common-law wife, which is another breach of usual Soviet procedure.
