Part Four, The Confluence of History: Chapters 35 & 36 Summary
The first assault comes with arrows. A quarter mile from the city, the Mongols charge and Alexander`s men hold their positions. The collision is brutal. A sphere hovers above them, and the injured begin arriving at Bisesa's makeshift hospital. Alexander hides half of his men behind the walls. Koyla lays under the flooring for three days, alive because he secreted water before they buried him, aware of Mongols and their punishments. He also has an explosive bolt with a simple trigger and waits for the right opportunity. On the third day he feels a heavy tread above him and pulls the trigger, killing Khan. Bisesa sees Sable head for the temple. Ruddy gets there first, and warns Sable to back away from the eye, but Sable shoots him. Bisesa tricks...
