Summary
In Chapter Five, Uncle Willy arrived with his wife, Belle, and their two young children, Simon and Anni. Miranda and her parents greeted them happily, and they all toured the house. While in the garden noting the pleasant scent of magnolias, Aunt Belle got a headache and Miranda felt a terrible sense of fear that nearly paralyzed her. However, it soon passed, and they spent the rest of the day happily. The next morning, Philip drove to New York and Helen took Willy and Belle into town to shop. Miranda played hide-and-seek with her cousins, but then the fear struck her again. When the paralysis ended, she ran downstairs crying and found her mother, who comforted her and explained that it was probably just hormones.
