Chapters 17-19 Summary
From Great Expectations, Thursday arrives in a room where a wedding feast had been. Thursday introduces herself. Miss Havisham takes Thursday through the library and to 'The Trial" for her hearing.
Thursday's trial takes place in Chapter Eighteen. She finds Snell in the room along with a man who had presented himself to her as a reporter and tricked her into saying she had changed the end of Jane Eyre. Since Thursday was somewhat familiar with Kafka, she knew how to handle the judge. The prosecutor ends up being arrested for not knowing that Thursday had worked as a housepainter and that green was the most popular color for painting houses at the time. The judge then granted a postponement because there was no prosecutor.
