Chapter 14-17 Summary and Analysis

The ChronoGuard knows who Friday is and they know that he is supposed to be one of their best operatives. No one can understand why Friday is defying his destiny, or how. Most people are unable to break free of the timeline. Thursday, Landen and Friday attend the ChronoGuard meeting for new recruits. Friday is immediately recognized by the hostess, who starts to congratulate Friday on things he has done in the future, before stopping herself and pretending to be in the present. The agent leading the presentation shows the crowd a small plastic bar and asks the crowd if anyone knows what it is. The agent points to a man in the crowd and answers his question before it's been asked. The agent explains that time is an illusion and that the present is actually in the future...
