Chapter 5-8 Summary and Analysis
While waiting for a taxi that will take them to the Council of Genres, so that Thursday could show Thursday5 around, Thursday notices a group of Mrs. Danvers. Characters are created as genetic blanks, then housed temporarily until they are sent to character school and put in a novel as a replacement for old characters or for characters in new books. Six thousand generics were temporarily housed in the novel "Rebecca" and turned into the creepy housekeeper Mrs. Danvers. Now there are Mrs. Danvers clones all over the book world. The taxi doesn't arrive so the two Thursdays go to the Great Library, a kind of Central Station of the book world, with every book ever written accessible.
