Chapters 42-46 Summary

In chapter 42, Black announces his discovery as everyone is packing to leave. Sloane is excited, hoping this will change Nora's mind about leaving; however, Nora remains determined to leave. Everyone enters the cave and walks around the Sun Kiva and the roomblocks behind it, studying the large, gold sun painted on the outside wall of the kiva. Talk of gold begins again. Sloane and Black want to open the kiva, but again Nora insists they cannot. Nora says they are leaving in the morning and therefore do not have the proper amount of time to catalog it. Nora insists they leave it until they can return. In chapter 43, Skip tells Dr. Goddard that he believes skinwalkers are out to kill his sister.
