Chapters 23-29 Summary
In chapter 23, Nora and Sloane decide to go into the next valley. Nora and Sloane make slow progress through the slot canyon, often forced to wade through murky water. On the other side, Nora and Sloane immediately begin exploring. At the same time she is hoping to find the steps her father described, Nora wonders if she will find her father's body somewhere among these rocks. The valley is beautiful, but there is nothing that indicates a great ruin in the cliffs above them. In chapter 24, Nora wakes to find Sloane already searching the cliff walls for some trace of the ancient city; however, Sloane has had no luck.
