Lawfulness
The Thunderhead is the embodiment of lawfulness in this futuristic society. It replaces governmental bodies and rules over all of humanity. It has cameras installed around the world, so there is a constant surveillance over its subjects. However, instead of seeming tyrannical, the Thunderhead is benevolent. Humans programmed the Thunderhead to want to help humanity. The Thunderhead states, “How fortunate I am among the sentient to know my purpose. I serve humankind. I am the child who has become the parent. the creation that aspires toward the creator” (3). This means that every law the Thunderhead enacts serve the purpose of bettering humanity. For example, it establishes a separation with the scythedom, so that matters regarding the living and dead are kept separate.
The scythedom itself resembles a modern day government, with a hierarchical system in place. It splits the world into digestible sections, like MidMerica, EastMerica...
